Default Curved Cross Hatch Quilting Help please

Is there a fairly easy way to mark a 12" corner triangle for crosshatch quilting without spending the better part of $100 on a ruler??

Your thought please.

You could try making your self a template out of template plastic or cardboard and use that to mark. Problem with the cardboard is you can't see through it to know if you are the desired distance from your first mark.

Are you frame quilting or sit down quilting and what kind of rulers are you looking at that cost that much? A single ruler from Quilted Pineapple only runs around $30

Rhonda's medium size crescent is around $20

These are both for frame quilting but you may be able to use them for sitdown.

I like DeLoa Jones' boomerang rulers. They have the same curve on the innie & outie side so you don't need to be ambidextrous to use on a machine although, it probably doesn't matter if you are just marking. About the same price as Rhonda's.

almost have to have a ruler. I tried making a curve out of layers of cardboard and it just didn't hold up to the usage..... The ruler though shouldn't be $100 more like $20-40

Not sure what I was looking at to get to such a high price. Thanks. Nothing I've tried to create has worked out and I hate to invest that much money a ruler for ONE charity quilt. I'm off and running. Thanks again.

I think you really need a clear curved ruler for curved crosshatch if you are using a ruler foot. You need to be able to see through the ruler for spacing.

I'd suggest DeLoa Jones' boomerang rulers, too--not only can you use for curved cross hatching, but I use my of lots of shapes--anytime I need a curve, actually! Very easy to use.

I like the look of the boomerang ruler and the price is good. Here is the link:

Great site for rulers...with the popularity of ruler work, they certainly have all the shapes covered.
