    I want to make sure I'm right on this. I know it is important to line up with the lengthwise grain when cutting the fabric, but with squares it shouldn't really matter since they could be simply used in any direction, right?

    I used mine...what I found was to make sure you cut them the same way if you have a pattern that you need to have placed a certain way. each side of the square on the go is different.
