Well, I did it, and it looks great! You can't tell that I made a mistake and pieced them together a foot back. Thanks for the encouragement ladies! Sometimes I forget there are really no "quilt police".

Glad it worked out for you! I have done it many times, and it has never been a problem.

I've learned the hard way to stop cutting/sewing when on the phone! Glad it all worked out. I haven't been that lucky.

Same here... after uttering some not-so-ladylike words... LOL!

I would do it without a second thought. Once a quilt is all together and quilted, the seams just kind of disappear, anyway, overshadowed by the quilting. Let's remember what quilting once was... resourcefulness, not perfection.

I am wondering if it would be noticeable to sew the two sections together to achieve my 6 1/2 x 10 1/2 width. How many of you would do this to make it work? I can't believe I did this to my beautiful fabric!
do it all the time if I don't have a replacement piece. If you did more than one wrong cut, why not just mix those fabrics up and create a new look.

It will work fine. I have cut things short and had to piece them to get it to work.

I did than on a Irsh chain block once. I cut the remainder sides the same and sewed them back togeather then cut them the right way. Making a block in a block. Instead of hiding it I put it in the middle and it looked like I intended to do that. I knew if I trid to hide it a coner it would like a mistake. It turned out pretty good.
