Cutting question
I purchased Christmas Quilts & more by Better Homes & Gardens today. Really like the 1st pattern called Candy Cane. It uses 2 jelly rolls in solids in a bricks layout. Has anyone else seen this? Do you think there is a way to do strip sets? Thanks for any tips.

It's like a subway tile pattern in red & white. This is done with 2 jelly rolls & I wondered if there is any way to do strip sets & then offset the columns. I'd like to speed up the piecing. 500-600 2-1/2 x 4-1/2 rect could take awhile.

Looks like this is definitely a candidate for strip sets if you were able to cut the fabric from yardage into 4.5" strips. Can't see how it would be done with jelly rolls without cutting the 500 rectangles, though.

You could sew the jelly roll strips together, then Subcut into 5" size ( or whatever) size strips. when sewing the pieced strips together, cut one brick on the end in half and sew to the other end or unsew one "brick" first and adding it to the other end depending on the stagger effect you want. I hope I'm making sense. Now thinking about it I'm not sure this would work either cuz the five inch width would be horizontal instead of vertical. Hmmmm.
