I've got the socks & pattern to make a sock monkey, just haven't done it yet. My oldest DD had a sock monkey when she was a baby. She couldn't say monkey so she called him "Packy". Then I made my son one of his own. Older DD literally wore Packy out.

I'll use the turning twenty with just 3 fabrics---------if I can find them. Makes a cute quilt and easy, too.

I've already got one jungle pre-quilted quilt that I need to bind. And I already got some print that matches that jungle quilt that I'm just going to make a play blanket-------and use some of my 50 cent orange flannel for the back.

I also bought some ToyStory flannel the other day on sale. It's going to be backed with yellow. DD and SIL dressed up as Woody and Jesse for Halloween-------------with my sewing help. So, DD will let that stay.

Got two dog prints and she fussed at me that there is some pretty dog print and what I got apparently isn't. The white/brown/blue flannel will be the ruffled part of a grocery cart liner-----cut out but not sewn.

And I may get the aran knit blanket that I started for 20 year old grandson done for this grandkid. MAYBE!

Ya never know on my husband's side there are 5 grandson's (my son included) and then came the little girl. I have one niece now.

My neighbors had 4 girls. Then they had 3 grand daughters. Then finally a grandson :) Sounds like it is time for you to add a girl to the mix!

I don't hold out much home. If she does have a girl it will be a tomboy. She grew up with 2 boy cousins and one boy neighbor and didn't know whe was a girl until seh started kindergarten and the teacher sent the boys INCLUDING HER COUSIN to one side of the room adn sent the girls INCLUDING DD to the other side. But not before she tried to go with her cousin.

My MIL had 3 girls, and when she found out that she was expecting again (the youngest was 10, so MIL was *NOT* happy!), they assumed that they would have another girl. I'm so glad that 'Maryanne' was in fact 'David'! Plus, he was nameless for a couple days because they never expected to have a boy! :D

Well with the colors she picked she could really keep the monkey theme for either sex :) I did my son's nursery in baby jungle animals. We didn't know the sex either! Monkey's will be cute!

I picked up several monkey flannels last fall when I was making the kids pillowcases.

And I'm glad someone reminded me of the sock monkeys. I'm going to do one with the brown work socks then look to see if I can find some other colored socks that have the toes and heels different.

Judging from the theme and nursery colours she's not going for a gendered colour scheme, so why not just do a bright multicoloured quilt that will work whatever the baby's gender? There's a really gorgeous Robert Kaufman range in a wild variety of colours which includes monkey fabrics. I have some of the abstract fabrics from that range (stripes and squares rather than animals) and they're great. I always do multicoloured non-gendered baby quilts and everyone's loved them so far.

We run to girls in my family. My mother is one of three girls and a boy, and so is her mother. My cousins are three of each, but if you take my aunt, she has two sons and a daughter, and has seven granddaughters with no grandsons (though one isn't biologically related so in terms of genetics, that's six granddaughters). A dietician I knew once said she's known this to happen in other families, and she reckons there may be something genetic going on which causes the male foetuses to be miscarried. I know that my mother had a lot of miscarriages, so perhaps there's something in it.
