This has happened to me if I nick a forgotten pin. When trimming a quilt to get ready for binding I have run the cutter over the mat and onto glass top DR table. Instantly ruins the blade.

A way to figure out if it is a nick on the blade, or a bad spot on the center post is to make a cut and measure the length between the dead spots. The circumference will be different and the length between the dead spots will determine which it is.

Harbor Freight blades are a gamble. Out of five packages there may be one good blade and that good blade is like using a used official rotary blade. At least that is my experience.

Don't bother trying the cheap ones from China. I thought for $5.00 I would give them a try. Well, if you put 700 lbs. of pressure behind them they do work but that gets old very quickly. I put them in another cutter for the paper crafts.
