Some of the blocks that were drawn/drafted by the author do not seem to exactly match the small photos that are beside them. Some of the angles are different, some of the seam lines are different, etc.

If you were making the blocks, would you try to match the photos or go along with what the author drew?

I'm thinking I'd like to try to match the photos - modifying the blocks to make them all 4.5 inches (finished)

jane used some "cheater" fabric to make some of her blocks, B13 & J3, so that could be why you are noticing differences.

the author drafter the blocks based on the pieces not on the geometric design of the fabrics.

i think everyone who makes a jane makes it to suit their tastes and style. i prefer a more contemporary jane over a traditional one.

I made block A-8 - made the pattern by the folding paper method -

If you Google Dear Jane Quilt, you will come up with the History of this one, its a quilt from the 1800īs and absolutely stunning. The history is wonderful to read.
