Do ALL sewing need to be oiled?

Many new machines have silicone embedded in the moving parts. As the machine runs the parts get lubricated. Oil will be collecting dust and lint if put on these parts. Only metal moving parts should be oiled. If you can find the repair manual (not the user manual) for your brand of machine it would be worth having.

No not all machines need oil, nor should they be oiled . My Brother CS6000i got oiled by the repair shop and when I called Brother to talk to them about the machine STILL not working correctly after the "repair" and told them about the oiling, they told ne to send it back to Brother so they can clean it our for me as they should not be oiled and definitely not the way the repair place did it :hunf:

I have a brother 270 d and there are no oiling instructions in the manual. I talked to my local repair guy who said not to oil it as its gears are plastic and don't require oil. They have also told me not to oil it at brother when I called.
