Do press seams open or towards the dark?

I press to dark. If it causes problems when I go to sew the next step, then I just press open.

I do both. Sometimes the bulk of the pattern requires me to press them open. Personal choice.

As a general rule I press open. Only on very rare occasion will I press to one side or the other.

I am making a log cabin, I am pressing the seams open, because there are many seams. I sew them open, helps when pressing considerably. Some times I press to the dark side
