It depends on the curve. Some do not need clipping. My Home Ec. teacher was and is wonderful. I'm - well, old enough for Social Security and she is still active and selling real estate. Oh, BTW she also taught my daughter.

No! I don't clip curves when quilting. The seam allowance is so small. This isn't like sewing and having a bigger seam allowance. This is for piecing. I do clip for applique applications as needed ... but, I don't do hand applique anymore. I do fusible applique and then finish the edge with a wobble stitch or something like that.

My different curved quilts have all been flat ... no puckers or anything.

I would have to be a really extreme curve before I'd even consider clipping a seam.

YES! unless it is a very wide -just barely curve---it needs to be clipped i guess it would be possible to manipulate a curved piece when hand quilting so it didn't raise too much- but it's just easier to clip and have a flat piece instead of trying to manipulate it.

I don't clip the curves. The recommendation for clipping sewn curves is for sewing garments - 1/4 inch seam is small enough that only the very tightest curves would need clipping. That said, with applique, clipping is still necessary. I've made plenty of Apple Cores and Drunkards Paths that never needed clipping. Last year, someone asked me about clipping so I clipped the apple core I was making. Waste of time. Made no difference, IMHO, once it was quilted. This year's final apple core quilt will not be clipped!

Yes, I still clip the curves. Sometimes I even snip a bit of fabric away to decrease any bulk - depends on what it is and how it is behaving that day.

I clip corners, also, makes them lay flat.
