Yes, in fact, that is the only way that I make quilts. Go for it, it's fun. You will be amazed at how beautiful it will come out. This was my weekend project.

Yep!! I do. I very rarely follow a pattern exactly.. Always add my own touch to them along the way. BillsBonBon

Following a pattern is the hard way to quilt!! I prefer winging it 90 % of the time.

I haven't ever used a pattern but there again I am still new to quilting and I've only made a total of nine large quilts in my life and that was for my children and grandchildren and they were made just for them. I'm not sure I am brave enough to do one from a pattern.

OH YES!!!! I started sewing things for myself. Before that I grewup watching my mom's friend sew, she never used a pattern. When I started sewing I tryed to use patterns, but I couldn't understand what they WANTED!!! So I went back to sewing how I had seen it done. When it came to quilting, it's been NO different. If I just look at the pictures or at a quilt, then I can do it and it will look the same. BUT LOOK OUT!!!! If I try to use a pattern from start to finish!!!! It's NEVER GOOD!
