I try to sneak down to my sewing room in the basement for an hour a day, usually in the afternoon or evening. I always have several projects at various stages going on at once. Right now I have one I am cutting, one on the frame to machine quilt and another I am hand quilting (which I can do while I watch TV with the family). If the kids don't have sports on Saturday or Sunday, I will spend about half the day sewing!

I end up getting sewing time after dinner and usually after my kids are in bed. By then, I have picked up the house (as much as I feel like after a busy day at work), cleaned up from dinner, and have spent time with the kids. I always feel too guilty heading back to my sewing room when I haven't finished all the tasks around the house I need to. I also have kids in Taekwondo, which takes up about two hours an evening. So, I quilt for about an hour or two.

I quilt mostly in the daytime but I also have a shoebox of quilting hand work that I do while watching tv with DH. I need to have my hands busy all the time or I would go up the wall.

Hi, Mary Alice
I can't believe that someone on this board has the same name as I do. This post re: quilting in the basement sure isn't me but signed with my name. Should I be getting a pseudonym or something?

I work during the day, I try to cut or piece in the evening or quilt if I have one ready. I usually always sew on the weekends while I'm doing laundry, cleaning, etc. I only get a couple of hours in the evenings as I share my sewing room with 4 cats and they want to go to bed at 8PM and will just stay in there until I get the hint and leave.
I am retiring in June and will get more time to quilt when I want. DH is still working and does not plan to retire. I usually cook pot dishes on Sundays and we eat leftovers in the evenings, or maybe nothing.

I work part time and quilt mostly evenings and weekends. I've done a lot of "stitching" and "pinning" during commercials. LOL

I sew in the daytime and embroider and embellish at night
If you do paper or foundation piecint, try jinney beyer's free block of the month pattern "Jinney's Garden at jinneybeyer.com

Since I'm disabled I can quilt whenever but I do tend to sew more in evening and late into the night. DH works a second job and is gone over night so I can sew as I wish!!

We shut the ringers off when we nap. Do not get much done after dinner without a nap.
