Found a reprint of the manual for this machine listed for $15 on eBay:

Most machines are very similar in terms of threading, bobbin winding, etc. Do you have specific questions?

Thanks for the link. The problem seems to be that there was a widespread issue with the bobbin cases on these machines. They don't stay put and bounce around. I can't get the needle to grab the bobbin thread and bring it up so all the machine does is poke holes at this point
