    Thank you, everyone. I appreciate all of the thoughts and the photo, too. I'll probably make one of my one. It should be cheaper than the commercial ones in the long run. I do think $3 was an excellent find, though! Sandybeach, I like the way your table sticks out from the wall so that you can reach both sides.

    Cathyvv- thank you also for your suggestions as to how to secure it.

    Sharon Schamber has a YouTube video on how to make an ironing surface. It was so easy I did it ... well, I actually made 2, one large and one much smaller. I did put some sturdy fabric on the back so the staples wouldn't mar my cutting mat. I also made cute ticking covers to keep them clean in between use.
