That sounds like a pattern in Stitch by Stitch: Learning to Sew, One Project at a Time by Deborah Moebes. http://www.amazon.com/Stitch-Learnin...itch+by+stitch

I loved working through the projects in her book. If you didn't want to purchase the pattern, you might be able to borrow the book from your library. I borrowed it from the library and fell in love with the book and ended up buying my own copy because I didn't want to take it back when my time was up.

Not too long ago, someone posted on here some pics of those, I think the name of the thread was "picnic anyone" or sumpin like that.

I posted photos of mine recently. It is so easy... take two 18" squares, serge or zig-zag together. add tie string in one corner. That's IT!
