Done....my first King Quilt
#33
First, a response to the first post - if you could get a king quilt done for $90, you found a deal!!! Also, $200 is not out of line. I have done some LAQing, thought not as a career, and believe me, there's more to it than just the quilting! I always read these posts on LAQing, and I always pick up a sense that some quilters think a LAQ is trying to over price and rip you off. They've worked hard on their craft, purchased expensive equipment, and their skills will enhance a quilt in a way that a domestic machine probably can't. You have worked very hard on a beautiful quilt ( and I know from years of quilting, that it is expensive, just for the materials, so I understand wincing at the cost of LAQing) but please don't not send it out just to prove a point. If you want to learn to quilt, great! It IS fun, but don't mess up your hard work, because you think you're being overcharged, because from what you've said, you're not.

Holy mackerel, where ever you live and can have a king sized quilt LAQ for ninety dollars I want to be there too. I pay one fifty for a queen sized in CA. It's a beautiful job and I send all quilts out because I don't do hand quilting. Wow! different prices in different areas.
Forgot to add my quilter supplied the batting for that price.

Congratulations! That is awesome! I am so impressed that you FMQ'd the entire quilt. Last week, I finished quilting my first oversized king quilt on my Bernina. The quilt was 122" x 120". I wasn't as smart as you. I SID for the body of the quilt and did FMQ on the wide borders. It thought it really looked great when I finished it. You have inspired me. If I ever quilt another king size quilt, I'll try FMQ on the entire quilt. Thanks for inspiring me. Oh, I did cut the batting in thirds to get the quilt in my machine. Doing that made the quilt easy to handle. Again, congratulations!

Congratulations on such a fine accomplishment - you should be proud. I've done a couple of king-size quilts, but mainly quilt in the ditch and diamonds in the border - haven't quite gotten the courage to do FMQ yet.
