Looking for ideas for a tie quilt. Been collecting and now is time to do something with them. ALSO, any ideas of what to use the tie interfaceing for? Just picked up about 2 doz very nice good quality men's dress shirts. What's the best way to go about cutting these up for the most use.

Go to the top of the page to Search & type in mens ties. There's been several members that have made quilts with them & posted the pics. Also some links for the patterns are available there. Have fun & keep us posted as to how you make your quilt!

have not made any quilts from mens ties, but the members of my guild made totes from them, they were fast and fun, turned out nice.

there are a couple of quilting with ties books; the one I have is Shirley Botsford's Daddy's Ties, 1994.
You can get it from Amazon new for $11.53 +s/h
or used (also thru Amazon's site) for $6.99 + $4 s/h
http://www.amazon.com

I often buy used books through them; have yet to be ripped off; always good quality and service

i suggest Shirly Botsford book as she deals with taking apart, washing, preparing the fabric etc etc etc.
sewing, suggested patterns etc etc etc. Good basic text.

There is also an interesting quilt quilt in the Shelburn Museum (Burlington Vt) made of men's ties. There is a pattern but will have to search for it. Perhaps the picture may be on line. The pattern is very easy of small rectangles of flying geese and sashing.
