Dyeing muslin
Is muslin a good fabric for dyeing in different colours.?
I have just read you can use it on the top of quilts but I am frequently after a specific colour which if I could dye my muslin would be great.
Than you for taking the time reading and helping.

Muslin dyes well. Kona cotton has gotten more expensive lately which might make it cost prohibitive for dyeing if you do a lot of it. Dyed muslin is similar to "shot cottons". I've always used plain, white muslin for dyeing and had good results. What kind of dyes are you using?

I have dyed bleached muslin. You could also look at dharma trading's website for fabrics to dye. If you are not familiar with them you should look. They are very reliable and sell dyeing supplies as well as fabrics. Good prices too.

good quality muslin is wonderful too use for fabric dyeing- over the years I have dyed bolts and bolts of bleached and natural muslins- I've Batik*d* them, screen printed them, over dyed, gradiated, tie dyed...it is a wonderful- go to fabric for dyeing. just prewash them to make sure all oils, sizing, chemicals have been removed (detergent- no fabric softener) then dye them according to the instructions for the dye/process you are using.
