    A few days ago there was some discussion about what appeared to be an inkwell in a sewing table. It was an ink well. I don't know how to post links but if you go to craigslist, il and click on Chicago ll and enter in antique sewing machines. About half way down the list there is a listing for 1942 Kenmore Sewing Mach/desk with original fountain pen and ink well. There is also a picture. Sorry I didn't know how to do this any other way. Lots of antique sewing machines in Chicago with some pretty good prices.

    Yes - I have one in my 1945 Singer cabinet. I didn't know what it was but DH is a wee bit older :-)

    Found info on the ISMACS (International
    International Sewing Machine Collectors' Society) website that says the cabinet was advertised as also being suitable for a desk with built in inkwell.
