Im using a large peice of terrycloth for a bath towel for my granbaby and want to finish the 2 edges. would you just zigzag or put a narrow binding on. have never done much with this fabric. always bound it for diaper mats. any ideas?

I could add binding, it will hold up better than zig-zagging.
You could add a little POP too.

I'd turn the edge and zig-zag it in place so it has a slightly more finished edge than just zigzagging the raw edge.

Whatever you decide, make sure you wash it first then square it up. Terry has a bad habit of drying extremely crooked. I've done both--if you bind make sure everything is preshrunk so that you don't get the curling edges.

I would sew a Terry triangle in one corner after binding the one triangle edge, then bind the whole square. Voila baby towel

Choose a pretty sturdy matching ribbon and sew it right side down against the back side of the towel. Fold the ends of the ribbon back so they will be finished. Then turn it to the front of the towel and topstich it down. Much better than zigzag for wear and adds some pretty to it also.

Another finish, is to use chenille strips... Zig zag them on with a very narrow stitch, and the terry frays will blend in with the chenille :D:D:D
