Default 1930's Applique question...help!

In using up what I have years ago I bought 2 packs of 1930 charm packs so I have designed a quilt that I'm happy about but it's 3rd in line so before I forget what I have planned I'm drawing it out and researching what i need. I have all the fabric (had to order one more charm pack) but that's ok.
I have decided to go out of my comfort zone and applique on the outer border because plain white is too boring for me and again I'm avoiding buying anymore fabric. I love sue and sam so I'm using them as a couple with a heart between them. I'm not a flower person, I will use floral prints but flowers appliqued allover my quilt is not my style although I do think they are very pretty to look at on others quilts. So I was thinking more of a house and herth type theme which is my style. In looking online I can't find any examples of a house or tree done in 1930's prints or on quilts. I would like to stay traditional to the theme of the fabric but before I make my own I thought I'd ask if anyone has a resource that I'm missing. I love baskets and I will use a few of those as well. Thanks

I don't do a lot of applique, but I am making a 1930's reproduction quilt for my grandmother. I've been working on this thing for 2 years because it's a postage stamp quilt with quite a few reproduction fabrics.

I know that some of the Better Homes and Garden's quilt books have some nice vintage applique patterns. I own one of those books, but have checked out others from my local library.

As far as applique patterns, I did a search and came up with these:

If you don't want to applique flowers, consider using yo yo flowers instead. Yo yo quilts were very popular in the same time period and they would look cute with your Sue and Sam.

A few years ago there was a pattern for a GFG quilt with applique on the borders. On the bottom border it had a tree with a girl on a swing, a little boy doing something, a picket fence. Think one upper corner had a beehive with bees flying around and small flowers (could use yo-yos) down the side border. Really cute. All I remember was that a lady named Cathy made the pattern.

Found a picture of the GFG quilt I was telling you about. The appliques around it are really nice. Might help you design yours. The picture isn't the clearest, but you get the idea.

Please post pictures when you are done. We would love to see them!
