With little technical support from EQ being an owner of EQ5, I made the jump and purchased EQ7 on eBay at a value I could afford. What am I going to need to know when trying the learning curve of this software? Can't wait to download MORE fabrics from EQ website!! Thanks

Go through the tutorials...they will get you started. Since you've had EQ5 you know the basics. Good luck and enjoy.

I have eq7 and wish I had never bought it. I should put it on craigs list and sell it cheap. Tried and tried to learn to use it and just get more frustrated so it is in the box it came in

I would suggest you to list it on eBay since you have not reached the status of senior member which allows you to sell on this board. Start with a price of $99.00. I have owned EQ version 3,4 & 5 and almost use this program every day.

When EQ7 came out I swore I wouldn't get it but after a good prerelease sale I changed my mind. I have since upgraded to EQ Stitch and am very happy with it.

I am in Evelyn's camp...not my cup of tea...I even took a class at a quilt show on it...problem is..I don't really have time to work at it much...although I want to design my own quilts. I have to remember how to do everything all over again and then I get frustrated.

I have EQ7, too, and I think it's not user friendly enough. The functions are good, but figuring them out is not for the faint of heart. I've had mine for about 2 years and am just now getting comfortable with it.

You have EQ5, though, so if you mastered that it shouldn't be that hard to 'upgrade' your skills for EQ7.

I bought it soon after I started quilting, thinking that I am pretty good with computers and I would be designing blocks and quilts in no time, but I found over time that I am too hands-on for this approach. The 'glam' factor faded pretty quick. I need fabric mock-ups and sample blocks and all the EQ7 features just didn't do it for me. I can photocopy fabrics on my color copier, cut them into finish-size pieces, and tape them together in different block configurations faster than I can do the same thing in EQ, and when I'm done I've got all the measurements I need.

I am a hobby quilter and only complete a few quilts a year, and I am not selling patterns.

As for usability, I used to be in computer software business and EQ is not the most intuitive program I've ever worked with, by a long shot. So if anyone tried it and didn't take to it, I can sure understand why.
