I was wondering how many of you have Etsy accounts and if you find it worth your time? I am thinking about starting one and selling bags, coin purses and stuffies. I am hoping to get a little input before I do.

Thanks

I don't sell on Etsy but I have purchased from it. I love seeing what's new and "pouncing".

Its sorta like ebay, but everything is either homemade/handmade or supplies for such. The buyer buys out right without bidding. Goggle Etsy and the site has a wonderful QA section

PS I didn't think you were stealing just learning

I joined several years ago, but so far have only purchased things like fabric from them. As far as I understand, they charge 20 cents for a posting plus 3. something percent of the selling price (shipping not included). I'm not sure how the money transactions work. I know they can take it directly from your Paypal account, but I'm talking about how people pay you.
Etsy is sort of like ebay, except mainly for crafters and there's no bidding, just a price listed. And you can buy immediately, no waiting like on ebay. BUT ebay handles the money, you just worry about shipping. Their listing is more expensive as well as their cut of the selling price (which is why the auctons are more profitable ).
I'm going to give etsy a try sometime before the holidays. I'll let you know how it turns out. But do go and take a look. They have some amazing things at reasonable prices.
bev. :]

I had a few items for sale last year but they didn't sell. I think the site was so popular that it was overcrowded. Almost impossible to find anything. If you search quilts, there are around 850 pages. Also they have sellers that are favorites and those are the ones who get featured. You have to be at the site often and have tons of items for sale to be sucesful. On the other hand it is a great place to find unusual gifts, but very often very expensive. As a crafter I know that making this items is very time consuming and sometimes expensive (not always the case with some of the things you see there) and I believe in fair prices for the crafters, but very often I don't see how to justify such a high price tag.

My 2 cents worth,

Maria

I have an Etsy account...but haven't really sold very much...got disappointed with the fact that if people don't see your item ASAP is is pretty much lost forever in the jumble...unless someone has you as a favorite or something like that....
I did find out that to keep current you need to list every single day.....I don't know about you, but I don't have the time......Good Luck if you decide to go ahead with ETSY.
