EZ basting brights
Hi, everyone -
I have a question for those of you who pin-baste. I've had great success with these pins, from Harriet Hargrave's site. Last week, I ordered them from joann's online, as there was a notions sale.
To my amazement, the pins from Joann's were half as thick and many of the heads pop right off.
If you use these pins, I'd be curious to know if the pins themselves have changed. Or, does Joann's get a cheaper version?
I have a mind to return them, as I have 4 new packages, and order them from Harriet. But if the pins are now just half as thick everywhere, it won't matter.
Thanks,
Charlotte

I'm not surprised you have experienced this.
Everybody swears it isn't true, and I can't prove it, but YEARS of repeated experiences have convinced me these "big box stores/chain stores" get 'seconds' in many of their notions. I rarely buy from them any more for this reason.

Just a little rant over one of my pet peeves. Sorry.
Buy the best you can afford and stay away from the cheap stuff.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. I did some digging, and EZ is owned by Simplicity. Maybe Simplicity is owned by Joann ( or the reverse.). Or else they truly are seconds. I'm going to find the receipt and return them. I'll let you know if the ones purchased elsewhere are thin as well.
Btw, Ube Quilting, the first pin I pulled from the pack lost its head when I opened it. I pinched it back on with a nail clipper. I can't imagine being stabbed by them all the time.
hugs,
Charlotte

Many times items are made for stores using different specifications. You do get what you pay for many times! I bought a hand mixer at Walmart and had an issue with it -- called the customer service number and was told that mixer was made specifically for Walmart and the issue had to be resolved by them. Won't make that mistake again!
