Default Fabric Recommendations

Hi All,

Although it's in the initial stages, this is what I'm working on for a new quilt of dolls in historic clothing. I'm just playing with various designs at the moment and Hopefully, the first one, Tudor (1536 approx) drawing will load properly to show what I'm talking about.

I've decided on putting some red/wine colour in each block to bring the together, but have been struggling to find the right fabrics. Does anyone in the UK know where I can find a miniature, damask effect fabric in red or wine to use for the gown? I don't mind if it's printed.

The background fabric will be a cream/beige Moda Marble, but because it's going to be an ongoing project, I haven't decided on the sashing and borders yet.

Thanks in advance
Damkina

This is beautiful ! I can only imagine what the quilt will look like. I am sure there is something out in the fabric world. Have you tried to Google it or check fabric websites? Please keep posting. I would like to see more!

Thank you for such lovely compliments. I'll keep posting as I go. I haven't drawn them all yet, but I'll soon be adding a Viking, Georgian and Regency.

Great drawings - that quilt will be magnificent!

Have you decided on the size of the dolls?

I was thinking of about 12 by 14 or 16inches, but it depends of the design of the fabric... when I eventually find it.

I'm also debating on if it is possible to have the skirt dimensional, so that the hem is separate to the underskirt. I'll have a play with some scraps first to see if I can do it.

You might find something in metallic Christmas quilting fabrics that would work.
