Thank you so much, mcdaniel! You can join us if you'd like to make one, too!!! It's the perfect project for all those wonderful CW FQs. If you're nearby, we should meet at the quilt shop someday soon!
I'd be happy to see the quilt you're talking about & let you know what I think.

My sisters took me to a fabric store in Northern Ohio called The Door Mouse. I have never seen so much fabric on one place in my entire life. It was great. Aisle are hard to get down due to all the fabric but I could spend days in there just looking around.

Had a blast at the show, ran into some people I know and met some wonderful members of the guild. They meet the second Wednesday of each month at the Chesterton library if anyone is interested. Your first meeting is free.
McDaniel, thank you so much for mentioning it! My husband said he'd heard there was one in town while we were visiting South Bend and I thought I'd be pushing it after my spending spree...he joined me today! This was his first show and we had a great time.
The quilt I think you were asking about was an art quilt done using fusible methods. The skin tones were highlighted so this is technically a mixed media piece...it may have been paint, markers designed for fabrics, or a combination. You can find more info about embellishing techniques through the Quilting Arts website. I get their free newsletter. Your local library may also have some books on the topic. http://www.quiltingarts.com/
Happy Quilting!!

Craftybear, I'd be meeting you from NW Indiana so I couldn't car pool but will definitely keep you in mind for the next trip! I'll have to behave myself for a little while, though LOL. Will you be going to the Chicago show??
