I am so excited...next weekend I will be on a Mediterranean cruise. You would think that just being on the cruise would be exciting enough...but nooooo...my sister and I are trying to locate fabric stores in the ports we are visiting. So I thought I would ask if anyone has been to the following ports and located any fabric stores, to please let me know.
Barcelona Spain
Provence France
Nice France
Florence Italy
Rome Italy
Naples Italy

If I do stumble across any fabric stores, I will take pictures and post.

Thanks,

I took a med cruise 3 years ago. Went to some of these ports. Believe me, there is so much history and other stuff to see you won't have time to even think about fabric! Not to mention the prices of fabric for quilting over in Europe will put you into sticker shock at over $20 per meter which is just a hair over a yard. Save your fabric $$ for home and enjoy the history, art and romance of Europe that you can't get here!

My DH, FIL, and I just returned from a trip to Spain. We spent three days in Barcelona and fabulous does not begin to describe it. Because my FIL is 85 and couldn't walk, we took the Bus Turistic and that was great. You see everything, hop on and hop off. Three days was really not enough. Try to make sure you see: Picasso Museum, Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's other buildings and Park Guel, the waterfront, and La Rambla.

How exciting!!! We took a Mediterranean cruise and I looked for fabric shops, but was unsuccessful. I can say I didn't look that hard because there was so many other things to see. Instead I took alot of pictures and made an wall hanging out of a picture my daughter took in Greece. It is my avatar....Have so much fun!! We had the best time and you will too....

When I went on a Mediterrain cruise, I couldn't find any fabric stores, just stores that carried everything and a little bit of fabric, which was outrageous in price ($25.00/metre and up). But being resourceful as all quilters are, I purchased 100% cotton swimsuit coverups for really good prices. Brought them home and cut them up. You would be surprised how much fabric you get in one of these and for a fraction of the cost. Also, the vendors will let you dicker over the prices of the coverups, so you can get them for a reasonable price. Have fun on your cruise.

This Dutch quilter has a lot of European shops on his site

( you'll see Italy on the left hand of this site as well.)

Thank you all for your advice.....I probably will be too overwhelmed with all the history, architecture etc that fabric will be the last thing on my mind.
