I keep asking at my local Walmart but the gal who cuts the fabric said they won't know until about May when they start the remodeling of that store if Walmart will keep the fabric department. I guess I will start to barrage them with requests to keep their fabric dept. I have found some great deals on some quality fabrics.

Last October they finished up a new Walmart Supercenter here and closed the regular one. The regular one had gotten rid of the fabric a few months before that and the new one didn't have any from the start. There is a walmart about 35 min away that carries fabric but I rarely go that way.

I guess we have to accept that even with Walmart being the largest employer in the states, they are not interested in being a part of the community or customer service. They calculate how much profit is made out of every square foot of each store. It is what it is - a for-profit business. I have gotten over being frustrated with them, and just accept that's what they have to offer.

Our regular grocery store did that. They took out a bunch of national brands and put in their generic. My dd has food allergies so we can't use most generics (it so happens that great value is one that labels well but this wasn't at a walmart) so I had to quit shopping there. I only go for certain things now.
