Figuring out yardage
I’m a beginner. I found a kit I really like but it has too much white (not compatible with dog). I have made my own version and thing I have the yardage figured out but I don’t want to be wrong.
Is there an app or cheat sheet somewhere that will help?

Hello and welcome. You would need to figure the amount of fabric needed for each patch (remember to include seam allowance) then add it all up. Figure 40" of usable fabric. Remember that you will also loose some as you may not be able to use the full width for some cuts. For instance, if you need 9.5" squares, you will only be able to get 4 across, loosing 2".
Here's a chart for squares:

Here's a calculator:

Other shapes will require more.
You can add a yard to your calculation to be on the safe side.
Are you going to buy the kit? If so, I would just buy it, measure the amount of background they gave you then replace it with the fabric of your choice.
