Finished Quilt Top ...
#21
I'm with yuou, have trouble with SID being straight. I am just now working on my 2nd quilt, just started late last year. I made my granddaughter a tied quilt. It actually turned out good so decided to make a quilt for our king size bed so far so good. I will try to post pics soon I always make pillow cases for my grandkids, they love them.

I couldn't get my quilt quilted on the sewing machine. One of my quilting friends said that was because I used polyester batting. I had basted and pinned, etc. but the back bunched up like crazy. I ended up ripping all that out and hand quilting it. I am sure the stitches are not as even as desired and not every stitch is in the ditch but I am almost finished. I am wondering, now, if I should add some extra stitches between the SID even though I used 2 1/2" strips for the most part.
To me, how to do the quilting is a hard decision to make. I don't have any advice - just to share my experience with my first quilt.
Your quilt is nice and bright. I am sure your son will love it.

Actually the clerk was correct. A lady who taught quilting at a college had told me this years ago but your comforter is no less precious than a quilt. Those definitions just describe how its finished. You still pieced 2 tops so consider it your 2nd.

That's what I was thinking.......great quilt. I started out tying all my quilts too. I think everyone ruined them washing and drying. I sometimes use painters tape to mark lines to sew along. (I have to draw an arrow on the tape pointing to the sewing side after sewing along the wrong side a few times )

you could stitch 1/4 or 1/2 inch away from the stair step red/orange pieces, going down or up each side. and perhaps again, filling up the areas more.
maybe the same with the dark ones.
great quilt though!
