Bravo for entering your quilt! And it's your first!! You are inspiring me. I am SO intimidated to enter a quilt. But we all have to start somewhere, and I imagine this will be a great confidence-booster and learning experience for you. You rock.

If we only entered a quilt in a show if we thought it would win, there would be precious few quilts to look at. Enter it, and be happy that lots of quilters will see and admire it. If you really don't want criticism, enter it as 'display only'. Then it won't be judges and you won't be sad. But DO enter it!

Thank you all for your encouragement. I'm going to try to fix the quilt this weekend. I'll let you know how it turns out. At least the break is on a seam that contains the same fabric. Hopefully that will make it easier to hide.

Welcome from Oregon City, Or. I would say go for it. You will most likely be able to repair the seam so it will be invisible. Good luck.

Welcome from north eastern Oregon. I worked out of Bend for many years. I lived in K-Falls and rode trains to Bend and back. I live about 5 hours from Bend now and have never been to Sisters. When is their big quilt show? I would love to go to it. I bet there's not a hotel room to be had there during it. Where would be a good town to stay in close to Sisters'? I have an uncle in Bend, but I don't feel comfortable staying there. And I don't want to be too far from Sisters. Do I need to make a reservation now?

The population of Sisters is not quite 1800, so hotel rooms are scarce. Lots of people camp in nearby campgrounds and RV parks, it's very beautiful. The show is the 2nd weekend in July. When I went, a group of us stayed with a friend who owns a ranch about 90 minutes away. You can also take a bus, I know there's one that goes from Fabric Depot in Portland over to Sisters and back. There might be a bus that originates from a location near you.

You can find more information on the quilt show's website here:

Or you can contact Stitchin' Heaven for more information. http://www.stitchinheaven.com/sisters.asp
