I think you are off to a good start. Even with precise cutting, I find point vanishing if I'm not very mindful of the quarter in seam. I have found a seam guide of some type really helps me out. It can be anything as long as it gives you a straight edge the right distance from your needle.
Also, I have toremind myself that some blocks pieces look "funny" until they are assembled. I keep wanting to trim things until it's perfect and then when I sew it together the points are gone because the funny looking part was the seam allowance.
Keep going. It will be pretty when it is finished and ever seam sewn will help improve your skills.

Very pretty! Love the colors too. Once you get it finished, you'll love it and won't notice the little mistakes. I think every quilt I've made has some kind of little mistake in it, but that's ok, love them anyway. ;-)
