Fixing a mitered corner???
My corners are all perfect except on one which will not lay flat.
I did cut off the excess bulk, but no go.
Is there a way to fix it. I did cut the bulk away but still, no go.
I appreciate all input in this.
Thanks.
Elaine

Elaine, try folding the miter the other way. I am always amazed that one looks horrible and the other way lays nice and flat. I am sure I didn't come up with this, but it works well for me. post here if you need a picture or two. I think I have a binding sample in my sewing room I can use.

A mitered binding or a mitered border? If it's the binding, do what soccertxi suggested and try folding it the other way. If it's a border, I would first undo the seam. If you pressed your seam to one side, one side will still be pressed flat. Just lay the flat side on the bottom, then the side with the creased pressed seam, smooth, carefully pin and re sew. This might be a good place for (horrors) basting first. If you pressed your seam open, then unpress one side and do the same thing.

If it is a mitered border corner, gently remove the stitching trying not to stretch the bias. Iron the corner and iron in the 1/4 inch fold on one bias edge. Lay that folded corner over the other side. Does it lay nice and flat now? If so put a few tiny drops of Elmer's washable glue on that 1/4 inch folded seam allowance, lay it on top of the other side and press until dry. Take it to the machine and sew on the fold.

I found that having the excess triangle from the binding on the back to put it in the opposite direction as the one on the top. You do need to carefully clip the thread so that you can get it to lay flatter.

I sympathize as I always seem to have 3 perfect corners and just 1 that does not cooperate, have taken out the whole corner and improved the look of it but still not happy w/them. I guess practice- practice- practice- ha.
