    Thanks for the ideas! Do you need to use batting as well in a flannel quilt? Or just another layer of flannel in between? What works the best? I was also thinking of hand quilting with big stitches.

    I put batting in mine, but I longarm quilt them. Can't help with hand quilting.

    I made QUILLOWS FOR MY GRANDKIDS AND THEY LOVED THEM.I did not put batting in them but you could.

    I try to avoid patterns that have a lot of points in them when I am working with flannels. Flannels stretch more than a flat cotton fabric does and makes the points harder to get right. I like Yellow Brick Road or A Fat Quarter Shuffle pattern for flannels.

    I made my Grand kids flannel on flannel, did a "girlie" stich around the outer edge for GD and a turtle stich for GS. They used them for their airplane ride to FL.
