I really don't want to purchase a serger for what little I would use it but I do like the finish look of a seam (non quilting seam) that a serger gives. So I'm looking at the Side Cutter. Has anyone here used a side cutter? What were your thoughts?

I don't know that one. I have a Simplicity Serger and i love it and use it all the time.

I had one on an older Necchi. Hated the thing. It was more trouble than it was worth.

From what I'm hearing, even the manufacturer does not reccommend heavy use of this add-on side cutter as it really shakes and jostles the machine.
    Just my hearsay info.

One came with my machine. I've used it a few times. It works but I wasn't all that impressed. I didn't feel it trimmed the fabric as well as it should.

I had one and used it ONCE, nothing like having a Serger.

If you don't need finished seams that often, you can generally do french seams. They look nice.
