I have done up to 122" on my Pfaff 7570 and 230 and agree with you. Takes patience, learning how to puddle and of course as Quilticing says.....slow and steady wins the race. :-D It is a bit easier on my Juki98Q but do love my Pfaff's. Haven't tried on my vintage singers as of yet but imagine as Quilticing says it will work just fine. I've also done FMQ with no problems.

Thankyou all for the help: glad I asked, and, yes, I can see now that there are good reasons for starting in the middle. Today the bobbin case that's supposed to transform my quilting-hating Janome has arrived, so I'm off to try it out...
