This week, I got a DVD from Fons and Porter that I didn't order. I don't like things like this. They want you to either send it back or pay $12.95 "special price." Then every 2 to 3 months they will send another at "regular price plus shipping and handling." Wonder what regular price would be? I am not happy with them for just sending it to me. Did any of you that subscribe to their magazine get this, too? They sent a flimsy post paid envelope to return it in. They said to take it out of the cover to send it back. They don't care if it gets broken in the return. They are just hoping that you will keep it.

Thanks for listening to me vent. Things don't upset me often, but as you can tell, I am not happy with F and P! lol

I got one too and it made me just as mad. I don't want things I didn't order.

I think legally (in the USA) you don't have to pay for anything that was sent to you without your consent. I'd email them and tell them to take your name off their list (if that's what you want) and that you're not going to pay for the dvd.

that is a scam that is going around, just take it back to post office and tell them you didn't order it, they want to get your personal info, not Fons & Porter but a scammer

You don't have to return it--I got one, too, and in the fine print it says you don't have to return. Fabric-holic is right-if you're sent something you didn't order or request, you don't have to pay for it or return it. I sent an email to be taken off their mailing list and email list; I subscribed in the past but don't anymore.

I got one. I'm going to keep it, I'm not paying for anything I didn't order. If they send me more without my written consent I won't pay for those either. They'll get the idea sooner or later.

Or you could just write "return to sender" on the package and give back to the post office. Then they have to pay for return postage. That is what I do when someone sends me stuff I didn't order.

Reminds me of my grams. She got a letter once asking for money for some poor children in a third world country. Enclosed was a comb. The letter stated that these children were so poor that they didn't even have a comb for their hair. My grams sent it back and said "Here, give them this one!"

I miss my grams :)

This sounds like the Inspire Design Create DVD I received from McCall's Quilting. I did not send them the money at first and they kept sending reminder after reminder to pay for it or return it (with a notice that you are not required to pay for this first one). Eventually, I got around to watching it and felt it was pretty good and I was curious as to what else they might cover so I finally sent the money. The second one arrived and the cost was about $27 I believe. I felt some of the sections were helpful so I will try another one or two. You can cancel at any time. I am hoping they will come up with some really good ideas. Since they spread them out and not sending them every month, I thought I would give them a try.

I used to belong to an online book club. They must have given my address to another club and they sent me a big book. I called them AND I sent an email saying I didn't order it and will not pay for it, that I consider it a gift.
They kept sending bills for it and threatening to send it to a collection agency.
I finally got to the owner or somebody high up and demanded that he send me proof that I ordered the book. He couldn't find anything.
So I said he'd better not report anything to the credit companies about not getting paid for it. I'd found a report with a clause covering this kind of thing and quoted it to him.
That ended it and my credit remained clear.

Ok, I am not as aggravated with Fons and Porter, as I was yesterday. In the letter that came with the DVD, it said, "Because you didn't ask for this special DVD, you don't have to participate or send it back and can consider it a free gift." Isn't it grand to be literate! I hate reading things that don't interest me, so I must have just skimmed over it. lol

By the way, I am keeping the letter in case they try to cause me any grief!
