I use high loft for trapunto. Put the top layer and batting together, then quilt the part to be trapunto. Carefully cut away the bat where you don't want trapunto. Add a layer of 1/8" thick cotton batt, the back. Then quilt the rest of the quilt.

A roll of what looks like felt but it's that stuff that you sew with. I can't even think of what it's called.


Maybe take a piece to the store to have them tell you just what it is.

A friend of mine that quilts old vintage quilts says that the high loft batting is good for wonky quilts. I have not tried it.
