Silver Needle

This is bad. I realized tonight that I have sewn or am sewing in every room in the house with the exception of 3 bathrooms and our bedroom. We've started collecting vintage sewing machines, I'll bet I could use the new FW in the bedroom. Thank goodness my DH is also involved with it and accepting!

I have all mine in one room which I love and I love all 23 of my machines!!!!!

Most of mine are in my sewing room, but in addition there are 2 in the den, one in the entry way, one in the dining room, and one in the bedroom. Our bathrooms are too small and steamy for sewing machines; wouldn't want to risk rust!

All mine is in my sewing room with the exception of three in my dh den. One parlour cabinet in the dining room. I am done buying anymore..unless I just can't resist a find!

I try to keep all more sewing contained in my sewing room. If I don't I seem to always loose a needle or a pin and I'm on pins and needle until someone finds it (hopefully not in their foot or posterior).

I started out keeping everything carefully in one room, the "quilting room". When quilt magazines started coming to the house, I had to find a shelf for them in the upstairs family room. Then the quilt magazines started walking into other rooms, all on their own. A vintage 15-91 sewing machine came to live in the entryway from the garage. A treadle model 66 found a home in the downstairs guest room. A featherweight was allowed into the quilting room. Assorted other vintage machines still call the garage home. I don't dare let them in the house because they will take up permanent residence, and I don't need that many machines. Then came the longarm, and it would only fit in the downstairs family room. Pins, needles, seam rippers, and bits of thread and fabric wander around the house at will. I've finally decided it's a "quilting house," not a "quilting room."

OK I think that we have to draw the line at putting quilting supplies in the bathroom!

I'm with you Dunster! My kids moved out and I had 2 rooms to expand to. One room was supposed to house my stash, cutting table and rotary cutting supplies, 2 back up sewing machines and an ironing board. The other room was supposed to house my sewing machines--one I use for fmq, one set up for embroidery and 4 other vintage machines were going to be used for piecing. Well it started out like that but I missed being able to look at and pet my stash when I got inspiration while mindlessly chain piecing a current quilt (mostly inspired by the folks on this board!)--can you say multitasking? So now most of the stash has migrated back into the "sewing room" I also have 2 vintage machines in the livingroom just in case...
