I feel like I have been in the trenches with this Free Motion Quilting. wow.. lots of ripping out with seam ripper, redoing.. and found a few miracles I am sure not new to anyone.
you need the right foot.
fabric to fabric is not the same. practice on the fabric you will be using.. get enough yardage for that.
sing a song. hah! works to relax me.
utube, utube, utube .. watch these women out there lots of tips for tension motion ect.
I feel like I can now wear the brownie badge of FMQ !!
forgot... practice practice practice too.. :)

Good for you, friend! I'm still so afraid of it. I'm such a wimp! :D:D
But I promised myself that this would be the year I try. I took a class but it was a long time ago and I don't remember anything except how awful my work looked!!!!!!! lol

Funny thing, my first quilt I FMQ and it turned out good..not perfect but good. I have since tried FMQ on more of my quilts and I cannot do it. I have practiced but to no avail.

I can't wait to finish my current quilt so I can FMQ a baby quilt for more practice--and fun (Oh, yeah--and because I have 3 pregnant people in the family!). They are about the perfect size to have a fun project--yet not too bulky.
