Well, I got my mother's old Singer and put a new motor on it myself; got it on the internet. For those old machines WITH a cabinet, that is not a bad deal. I would jump on it if I was close enough.

I just posted to the lister asking if it's still available..I'm hoping it is as the cabinet that came with my Red Eye is not in very good shape. I'll keep you all posted..It's an easy 2 hr drive for me. Wish me luck!!!

For that money, I'd remove the motor and take it back to a treadle.

Great piece of furniture, even if you never use it as a sewing machine!
If the motor is shot, it would be easy to convert to treadle - leg exercises?
I'd buy it in a minute if I were near.
