The august, I will be hosting my quilt group's retreat. We always play "Fat quarter Lotto" and will again. I need some other ideas for other things to do. I'm thinking of having everyone to bring a pin cushion. I just don't know of a game where we could trade them. Any retreat ideas would be welcomed. Here is picture of us playing Lotto.

For the pin cushion trade you could play the Christmas present exchange game.....

Have everyone draw a number from a hat. Display all the pin cushions. #1 goes first and selects a pin cushion. #2 can select a pin cushion from those left OR take the one that #1 selected. If she takes from #1, then #1 selects again And so on. Each one chooses from the pin cushions left or take one from someone who has selected previously. Sometimes the taking and re-taking can go on and on and on, so you might want to put a limit on the number of times any one item can change hands.

Or....put each one in a brown bag and have a blind swap. You could number the bags and then have each person draw a number to see which one she won.

    Just thoughts. Have fun!!

On the board someone explained a game that you read a story about left and right every time you hear left / right you pass your wrapped pin cushion and at the end of the story u end up with the one in your hand.

What about a game where every one wears a charm square and for set time you cannot say the word "thread " like the baby shower game don't say baby then whoever has the most at the end of the game wins the charm pack.

Everyone brings three sets of three fats in different color themes. We play one game each day we are at the retreat. We have a set of "dice" that can be found at Walmart and other places. They are marked with L, R, C or a dot. Taking turns, you roll the dice and pass left, right, center or if you have a dot, you keep your fats. You only roll as many dice as the number of fat quarters you still have. The ones in the center are dead. When all the fat quarters end up in the center except the last one, that person is the winner of all. We usually pick a different color theme for each game. I think the game rules are included with the dice and can be used for other things. It is a lot of fun and you never know who is going to win till the end. You can be out of fat quarters and think you are out, but someone may pass back to you and you are right back in the game. It is a blast!

We play "Musical Fat Quarters" . Just like musical chairs, except you're tossing the fats around like hot potatoes instead of running around chairs. When the music stops, you keep that fat quarter. Toss another one in and turn the music on again.
