I also prefer without sashing but you might want to separate the screaming stripes from being next to one another. You have enough of the softer ones to separate them. You are doing a great job !!

I did find it was easier for me to sew the pieces one to the other and not sew 3 together then sew the two halves. I could not get my centers to match.
One tip I found that I squared off the tip of each piece(using my 60 degree ruler.) and stopped sewing about 1/4 inch from the end. After all were sewn together I went back and sewed the tips together.

Sashing is meant to separate, divide, hold apart. I feel that's contrary to what this design needs to be its best.
It looks really wonderful as it is now!
