Please a little help here! I have been working on a baby size quilt. I'm down to doing the 5" border. Border is in hot pink fabric with bright yellow on back of quilt but I have been FMQ in white thread and I'm a beginner and I have a long way to go for it to look good.

    1. Should I change thread color to hot pink?
    2. There is a lot of "extra" fabric from the quilting on the border. Will this smooth out?

    1. only change the thread if you want to.
    2. it may quilt out and it may not, my guess would be no.
I cut my borders lenght wise instead of cross wise grain and it helps to prevent stretching. Others will have ideas on how to prevent that in the future.
    good luck
