This picture is a GFG my MIL made in the 1970s. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. I'm starting one using basically the same layout but pale green background and grey-green for the lattice. I think you might like the border she did. Hope it shows up.

I'm never done the Big Stitch hand quilt method, but bet it would look good on this quilt. Or you could do a simple circle around each flower--maybe the middle. The key to doing it on you DSM is getting it layered flat and well basted--and take your time. the other option would be to take to long arm quilter and ask for a "flowy" pantograph--which would probably also be your least expensive option with a long arm quilter--and would not take away from your intricate piecing.

I have quilted a few GFG on my Bernina. Just outline each ring of the flower and you should be fine.
