I lost two blocks yesterday and after searching for hours, found them under the table just before I was ready to cut out two more--had all the fabric ready, too.

I can see that you were visited by ghosts/gremlins - I have several living in my sewing area. That would have to explain why I can put something down, a block, a pair of scissors, rotary cutter, the list is endless, then when I go to find it, it has "flown the coup". I can only find it if I make another block or reach for another scissors, rotary cutter, whatever. I guess it's one of the "joys" of getting older. LOL. Just know that you are in good company and that when you make another block you will find the missing one - Murphy's Law of Quilting.

Well, we have NOT found the lost scissors in my case of missing items; but I guess I made Mother feel so bad she brought over her own pair to give me.

Now if those get away, too, we'll definitely know who the guilty party is!! (After years of mothers blaming it on 'the kids'. )

I was getting mad at work one day because apparently someone STOLE MY FAVORITE PEN right out from under my nose! I had it in my hands just a second ago, and someone had just been there, and I was sure they'd taken it. I was looking all over for it to make sure I didn't still have it, getting madder and madder as I was not finding it, and started slapping my hands down on my stuff on my desk to make sure it wasn't hidden under any paperwork. A coworker, noticing I was angrily searching my desk, asked me what I was looking for. I reached up and took my pen out of my mouth so I could explain.....oh. There it is!

I was pretty embarrassed. Teach me to go jumping to conclusions...

A similar thing happened to me. Never did find the missing block but I think I know what happened to it. The blocks were nicely stacked to the left of my sewing machine. Also on the left was my little waste can (aka: thread catcher). It's very possible that as I picked one of the blocks up, another one fell into the waste can. I discovered the block was missing after the garbage was picked up...

Now I check the waste can before tossing the contents into the household waste. Lesson learned.
