What a great friend! I keep looking for one.

My MIL has one that came from my FIL's aunt's general store. I covet it, so!

What a wonderful cabinet and friend to have gifted it to you. Be sure to post a picture once it is in your sewing room.

Beautiful cabinet and the color is just great. All the detailing. I have seen these before and I would love one too. You have a very awesome friend to think of you when he decided to let it pass into your hands. Treasure it always.

What a gorgeous find! I love looking at old stuff like that. Now you need to find some old wooden spools to put into it.

Wow, and in great shape. Lucky you. (I have one that was my grandmother's in not nearly as good shape, but I treasure it.)

Thought I could add some light on your great gift...they were used in the late 1800's and as others said they were display/storage cases. Yours looks like it has been refurbished, which would reduce the value, it is oak and looks like it is in very good condition. Here is one for sale in original condition. http://www.bargainjohn.com/w340cClarksSpoolCabinet.htm

Before I was a quilter I was an antiques appraiser.
