Default Glue for applique

Is there any reason not to use permanent liquid stitch for raw edge applique?

I think Patsy Thompson does something with liquid stitch for appliqué? Check her site.

I would use small dots of Elmer’s Blue Gel Glue, just inside where you will be stitching. It washes out easily when you’re done. I always leave mine to dry overnight just to be sure, but it dries in a few hours.

Not only does permanent glue get hard, if you need to adjust your appliqué, you’re literally stuck with your mistake. I just use regular ol’ Elmer’s washable school glue. It sticks very well, dries within minutes, and the appliqués do not come off while I’m hand-sewing.

Permanent glues seem to dry clear but turn yellow over time.
