I would suggest the clear packing tape on the back where yours is broken as well. I figured if the packing tape stuck with the glue, it wouldn't effect seeing through the ruler. After you have the packing tape on and the ruler looks aligned, bend it open just a bit being careful not to snap the other end and run a bead of Crazy Glue along the crack. I did mine on my old arbourite table in case I had a glue over run but I didn't need it with the packing tape on the back. Hold the edges fiat on the table until the glue sets.
Oh thanks !I have a broken ruler that I love. So far I've only taped it together and handled it very gently but I will try this now. Thanks for the advice.

My 6 1/2 x 24 inch ruler broke in half; I just used a heavy, clear packaging/shipping tape and it has stuck together for quite a while already. Good luck.

My large June Taylor ruler broke about 6 months ago. I used super glue and, so far, it is working fine. I am much more careful in handling the ruler now.

My June Taylor ruler broke also, and I duck taped it together. It isn't pretty, but it does the job just fine. The ruler didn't "just break," I caused it. I can't actually remember how, because it was a long time ago. I use that ruler almost daily and the duck tape fixed it right up. But then, I use duck tape for everything...

Ihave used the E6000 for acrylics before. I just put it on a flat piece of board or whatever you have. Lay it on top of was paper. If you squeeze some of the E6000 off into a dollup (dime size should work), then use a small toothpick or an old needle to apply it to the crack. E6000 takes a while to set up so you will have plenty time to apply to the crack and not get it all over. After it has set up and dried, you can use an old emery board on the fine side and rub off any excess. E6000 is a good glue for all kinds of projects. I would never use granite as a workspace to fix something. A cheap clapboard or piece of wood should work fine.

Maybe you've already done it, but if anyone else has this problem, try going out of the quilt world to find a solution.
thanks, i'll try to shop there
