Default Which ruler(size) to use with slidelock?

Hi! I'm new here and glad that I finally signed up. Thanks to this forum I discovered Slidelock while I was searching posts talking about cutting (wof/accurately...etc) and I decided to give it a try. I ordered 24" one. My question is.... what size/shape of rulers would be good to have to use with slidelock? To mesure narrow AND wide strips (WOF), I'm thinking a big square one (16", 18", or 20" and I don't have any of those) would be useful...? My cutting mat is 36x24 and my table size is 45x24 so a gigantic 20" square ruler may not be practical for that setting.. I have a 24x6 ruler so I could use that to get a maximum 24" strip but I wonder how accurate I could get only lining up 6" with the cut edge....and again, my table may not be long enough to do that way.... I'm qurious what other slidelock users have/do. I'm pretty anxious to try the new toy which will be here early next week and hope it'll help me to cut better and easier. Thank you in advance everyone :-)

I use a 12" square ruler butted to the 24" x 6" ruler or I use
TWO 24" x 6" rulers butted together...depending what I'm doing.

Edit: I personally don't find much use for the 20" square ruler
unless I'm squaring a quilt. Yes, it's quite cumbersome to work
with. I prefer to work with smaller rulers as much as possible.

I use whichever ruler works best for what I want to measure. If I'm going to measure across the width of folder fabric, I either fold it again to make 4 layers and use a 14 x 6 ruler or don't fold it again and use my 6 x 24 ruler. I measure the distance I need, slide my Slidelock ruler against it, making sure everything is still straight, move the ruler and make my cut - usually from the other side of the table as I am right handed. I have both sizes of the Slidelock rulers and use whichever works best with the ruler I am measuring with. I could not cut wide fabrics without them!
